Hudson Musty and friends raise $300 for Sri Lankan kids

For his 6th Birthday this year, Hudson decided to ask all of his friends to become a Fairy God Cousin, in lieu of presents. Hudson and his friends raised $300 - which will be sent to the kids in Trincomalee to buy presents for their birthdays.

Lynda says: Each time one of my children invites their friends to a birthday party, they always seem to end up with a lot of toys that they don’t really need. Sure, it’s a lovely way to celebrate your birthday, but, with the busy lives they lead, they don’t have time to play with loads of toys (and at the end of the day, I’m always trying to find room to squeeze all of their presents into their already full bedrooms).
When Hudson’s party was being planned, I spoke to him and suggested that maybe he didn’t need so many toys (although he would still get presents from Mummy & Daddy and other family members) and that maybe it would be a good opportunity to give to others who really do need toys, games, or even the basic essential items.
I showed him your website and he was shocked at how little the children in the orphanages in Sri Lanka had. In a split second, he was ready to give everything he owned to those children.
When we sent out the invitations, a note was included to the parents asking for donations rather than presents and this was really well received, not only by the parents, but by the children.
At Hudson’s party, we had a box decorated with photos of St Joseph’s and of two of the boys. Each child placed their donation in the box. I think Hudson found the most exciting part was counting the money afterwards and realizing that he could make a difference to those children.
