About Sue Liu

Sue Liu Sue is an active humanitarian, and has most recently been devoted to helping communities in Sri Lanka after the 2004 Tsunami, and orphan children in Cambodia.

She is an active contributor to Sydney’s small business community by presenting seminars to business owners as well as holding intimate networking events for special interest groups. She is also a mentor on the 2008 Women in Business Mentoring Program for the NSW Department of State and Regional Development.


BZ - Before Zulu

Sue decided to discover what the world had to offer after completing her BA and post-graduate degrees at University and consolidating her experience in Public Relations and Media Relations. She travelled and worked overseas for almost 5 years before returning to Australia in 1999. Before Zulu, Sue’s clients and employers have included:

  • In Australia: NSW Department of Community Services, Barnardos Australia, Securities Institute of Australia, Australia Council for the Arts, Mayne Stream Communications and FAI Home Security.
  • Overseas: London , England - NCH Action for Children and Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation. Vancouver , Canada - THE Financial Planning Group, Montreal Trust and Just Your Type.

Qualifications

  • Graduate Diploma in Communication Management in Public Relations from UTS - 1994
  • BA. Communications Studies from University of Newcastle -1991
    Sue was awarded the Cogan and Associates Prize for Public Relations and graduated with High Distinctions in the areas of PR and writing.

Sue’s interests include:

  • Sing, making music and being a groupie at her friend’s gigs. Gimme Jazz, Blues, Funk, Groove and Gospel.
  • Mosaic art and painting - examples of her work coming soon
  • Philantropy and social justice - doing it - not just talking about it
  • Travelling to third world and war-torn countries as a bit of ADVENTURE
  • Food related activities - like making and eating

Sue’s an intrepid world traveller

Sue has visited and experienced life in over 50 countries. She has a special interest in adventurous travel to dangerous, war-torn, third-world countries. Highlights have included:

  • Spending Christmas - New Year with 125 Cambodian orphans and BIG MUM Geraldine Cox in Cambodia at Sunrise Children’s Village
  • Private tours to Tsuami ravaged regions of Sri Lanka and being escorted by Tamil Tigers through the the danger zones and fleeing the war-zone on a precarious overnight bus from one end of Sri Lanka to the other.
  • Being shot at on a volcano in Guatemala
  • White water rafting on the Nile in Uganda
  • Flying over Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe in a 2-seater microlight
  • Being kissed by a baby chimpanzee in Uganda
  • Winning the 2 Day FM travel adventure competition in 2000 - and doing crazy things on live radio for 3 weeks in Sydney and Europe.
